Civivi Elementum compared to Honey Badger Knives

Civivi Elementum

The CIVIVI Elementum is a no-frills, straight down to business utility folding knife and many of its design features pave the way for it to be an excellent EDC blade.

These include the thin, ergonomic handle and a very simple utilitarian design. The drop point blade of D2 steel offers dependable blade strength and edge retention and transitions into an ergonomic handle that seems to melt into the hand. The caged ball bearing pivot ensures a smooth and reliable action.

Quoting from Knife Informer

“We love $50 affordable folders.  Why?  Well, $50 will buy you a knife that’s well made enough to really last a long time and bring joy to your life, but not so expensive you feel bad actually using it.  It doesn’t ruin your month if you lose it, or break the tip, or loan it to a coworker who mistakenly thought it was actually a screwdriver.  I think $50 is the sweet spot for a budget EDC knife, and I say that as someone that regularly carries knives that cost several times that much.  One knife I’ve been hearing recently mentioned as the true king of the budget realm is this, the Civivi Elementum.

The name is hilarious, but the Honey Badger line of folding knives offers a lot of value for the money in this segment too.  They’re available in three sizes (2.875”, 3.25” and 3.6”) and three steels (8Cr, D2 and 14C28N) as well as three blade shapes (a standard drop point, an aggressive hawkbill and a funky “wharn cleaver”) but the most directly comparable to the Elementum would be the small (2.875”) drop point model in D2 steel, which rings in at ~$52- so nearly identical price to the Elementum, as well as materials – G10 scales, D2 blade, ball bearing pivot, steel deep carry clip.  The Honey Badger is a little lighter at 2.5 ounces, and it also offers the choice of a thumb hole in addition to the flipper tab for opening.  It’s not as “classy looking” as the Elementum, but it does have a more pronounced handle swell and more jimping and grip.”

The Civivi Elementum is a particular model in the range whereas Honey Badger is a whole eco system! If you like the Honey Badger’s standard features being a ball bearing flipper with thumbhole, deep pocket carry clip and non slip honeycomb FRN scales then you now have the option to choose the size, color, blade shape and steel according to your needs. Want to take things a step further? There are a number of options to enhance your Honey Badger. These include different color G10 scales and black hardware.

So if you’re in the market for a versatile pocket folder in a number of size/color/shape/steel options then make sure to use our knife selection tool to help with your choice.

Great budget knives that compete with other brands. Only complaint is that the finish on the edges of the scales could be nicer. Otherwise perfect.

Can’t say enough about my experience with honey badger. Knife was sharp out of the box and arrived quick. When I mistakenly ran my knife through the dryer I lost some parts and thought I would be buying a new one, when I contact customer service, they not only sent me the parts I needed but also helped me identify parts I didn’t know I was missing. All within the hour. Really can’t say enough, honey badger customer service is probably the best I’ve ever experienced
